Since I joined Twitter I have ‘met’ some incredibly interesting people and I have been drawn to follow them mainly thanks of a shared love of sport. Whether it be boxing or football the majority of my tweets, and tweets I read are of a sporting nature. It can therefore come as quite a shock when you encounter someone who, whilst liking the beautiful game, also manages to have interests that don’t involve wearing shorts and running around.
I’m not even sure how or when I became aware of Rae on Twitter but it soon became apparent that she was a social networking gem. Funny, acerbic and like me, really into spending time in the kitchen. Rae mentioned a while ago that she was hoping to start a food blog and with a charge of shameless self-promotion that Simon Cowell would have been proud of I asked if I could be involved. It came as something of a surprise when Rae asked me to be permanent part of the project but I was very excited. After throwing around ideas for names, (sadly Food-Man-Chew was taken) we arrived at Dough-Rae-Me and here we are.
DRM will be a place to read about all aspects of food and everything associated with it. There will be some utterly amazing recipes, (I know, I’ve tried a few of them) but also we are hoping to explore how food has an impact on our day-to-day lives. From large-scale farming to local allotments. From the tyranny, (or not) of supermarket chains to the local shops selling locally grown produce. Myself and Rae are hoping to build a platform for people to learn about one of the most important topics in the world, what we shove in our pie-holes.
If you have any ideas about blogs you’d like to see, or even better blogs you’d like to contribute we would love to hear from you via the comments section of the site.
So here we are, Ladies and Gents. Dough-Rae-Me is here and it’s about to get edible!
As someone who receives the benefits of George Ogier’s culinary prowess, I can’t wait to see more of this blog!
Don’t be surprised if I pitch up on your doorstep, along with my long-suffering better half!
i have been looking for a good food blog – cant wait to read more!
Thanks Gemma. Hope you’re well.
If you bring cake Rae, you can live here. I bow to all things sweet.
